I first noticed the series of bites on Sunday night/Monday morning, and the itchiness and intensity has grown each day. On Tuesday morning, I noticed three new bites appear on my opposite leg. They’re itching VERY intensely, and I’ve been trying to treat the itch with hydrocortisone cream, which only has a mild effect if any.
My concern, since they appeared overnight, is that it’s bedbugs. However, I searched my bed and room and found no trace of them. A week or two ago, though, I noticed a couple of strange looking reddish-hued bugs – which would be consistent with bed bugs, too. So, I’m at a loss. If you want to see pictures, of the first bites, follow this link:

No new bites have appeared since Tuesday, and, if it were bedbugs, wouldn’t they have been all over me right from the time I got my new bed, which was a hand-me-down? (About a month ago.)
I’m at my wits end. Any and all help is appreciated.
In case you might not have noticed, it’s a series of 4 bites all closely tied together.

An annoying President that wants to suck the life out of us, and bedbugs make a comeback. Forget 9/11, how can we be saved?

Ever since a few years ago, I have had a huge phobia of bugs. Every type of bug you can think of, I’m scared of. I don’t know how or why it started, but it’s a pain in the butt.
Normally it hasn’t been much of a problem. If there’s a fly, wasp, or spider in the room I’ll still kill it. But…cockroaches. I can’t kill cockroaches. I am petrified of them. I know I’m way bigger of them and they can’t possibly harm me, but that doesn’t help.
I was in my bed when I noticed an odd shadow on my curtain (there’s a street light outside, so I can see a lot). I turned on the light and discovered that it was a cockroach. The window is right above my bed, so naturally I flew out of that room. I got the bug swatter (no spray; we’ve never had problems with bugs before – especially cockroaches) and went back to my room. I tried to face it, I really did, but every time I got near the thing fluttered its wings and started to fly. The thought of it flying at my face…I ran away and cried. I still am.
It’s been about an hour now, and I really need to get to bed. But the thought of going back there terrifies me. What should I do? The only solution I can think of is sleeping on the couch, but I won’t be able to go to sleep knowing that thing is in the house.
Matt: I thought of doing that, but my Dad has to wake up in two hours and my brother has to wake up in three. My Mom is just starting work on Friday, too, so…I guess I’ll just have to wait until my Dad gets up.
stripe: I’ve never thought of that before. That’s a really good idea!

I have a bedroom in my basement and these past couple of days I have been finding tiny worm-like insects on the carpet of my bedroom. I tend to get a lot of insects in my bedroom since I sleep in the basement. They are dark brown, almost black worm-like things. I’d say they are fly larva or something but they don’t really slither fast like maggots and they almost remind me of small caterpillars. Yesterday I had a dead spider on my floor when I got home and there were three of those worm things crawling around it, I was so grossed out. I picked them up with paper towels and put them in the garbage. I didn’t have any bug spray so I sprayed hair spray over them to make sure they died. Today I found another one on my floor and did the same thing.
We get a lot of flies in our house as we have to leave the door open all day for our dogs. It’s not an option to close the door. It’s a big possibility they could be fly larva but I’m not sure just by the darker colour and movement of them, plus it’s not like I have rotting food in my room. It kind of looks like they have a hard shell. Another possibilty I’m thinking maybe caterpillars or centipedes but I really have no clue….I hate looking at them up close. They’re seriously creeping me out. My room is messy right now but I’m terrified of cleaning it now just in case I find a whole nest of them clumped together or something. Insects really really creep me out, particularly larva and worms. I live in Ontario, Canada and right now it’s hot in the area…also we live in a house about 9 and a half years old…we were the first people to live in this house as it was brand new when we bought it.
Basically my fear is that I really need to clean my room and vacuum it as I want it to be clean so my bedroom doesn’t attract these critters as a home for them but i’m terrified of finding more, especially of finding a whole bunch of them together somewhere. I’m especially scared of lifting up objects, cleaning under my bed and around my bed for fear I find some. Seriously, bugs like this gross me out so much. Is there anything I can buy to kill them and does anybody have any idea what they might be?

I went and picked a ton of different flowers for my gf some weeks ago.
When i got home and put them in a vase.. i noticed tiny white spiders hanging down from webs and was like omg and squished them.
I then noticed tiny tiny white insects crawling around the counter, in which i grabbed a napkin and started killing every last one i could see.
I notced none were falling from the plants unless i shook them..
so as i tried to find them, in which was near impossible..
i finally saw that they were on one particular flower..
i had about 4 of thise flower and they were only one these ones..
they’re very small.. white.. i have a camcorder that zooms WAY in and i got them up close on video climbing up the tiny stems of these flowers.
Note: The flowers are weird.. like.. they’re pretty stiff in the middle.. kind of pointy in the middle.. the petals are long and dark.. maybe about 5 long petals per flower.. not too close together, pretty separated.
They grow decently large while some smaller than others.
I noticed tons of these little white bugs were crawling up and down the stiff pointy deals in the center of the flower..
to get rid of everything, i just took tin foil, engulffed all the flowers with it, ran outside and through them in the garbage with the tin foil.
Well i dress pretty covered up, i wear fingerless gloves all the time, with tyes and thigh highed striped socks and shorts and long sleeved shirts rolled up a lot.
i had my socks rolled down the night i got these and it seems like every time i wear my socks now, i end up with weird bites on my legs..
i don’t see any bugs though..
and i’ve checked my bed and i see nothing.
i noticed today two of what looks like the same insect on my laptop case in my room..
i squished them and that’s the last i saw..
someone said they might be chiggers?
though they don’t look like chiggers.. and i’ve heard chiggers go in your skin etc.. so i’m thinking maybe some of these bugs are in my skin and everytime i wear my thihg highs it’s like it’s suffocating them or something so maybe they’re biting me?
i don’t feel biting at all, but i’ll wake up and have like 2 or 3 new bites..
or later on in the day i’ll have a crazy itch on my leg and yeah.
i’ve also had only a few bites on my arms but they remind me of spider bites.
i live in a nice house and it’s not infested with anything..
what are these bugs or what might they be?
they climbed decently fast up these stem like deals of the flower
were incredibly small..
and i noticed occasionally they jumped.. and super fast.. like a flea or something but i don’t think that’s what fleas look like..
and i don’t think they live on specific flowers…
they were there.. then they were gone when they jumped..
thanks

The Y/A blog on bedbugs got me to thinking about inscet infestations and how many times it only takes one female to have babies and then you are on your way to an infestation. So the insect brothers and sisters are having babies together. Are insects just so genetically basic that it doesn’t matter?
Thanks in advance for your answers to this off the wall question!

I recently found some insects in my bathroom they’re black in color. Very, very tiny a little bigger that the head of a pin. They are very slow moving and head or antenea looks like it’s in a Y shape. I tried throwing some water on a few of them to drown them since they are so small and I thought that killed them two minutes later a few were crawling back up the wall and one looked like it came out of the sink. I’ve looked everywhere online and can’t find out what they are I thought they were a micro-beetle, tick, or bed bug and they don’t look like any of them. Please help I want to find what they are if they are harmful and how to get rid of them. I haven’t tried bug spray yet but I’m about to.
